american white ash threshold strips stair nosing and skirting

Finishing touches, namely floor transitions are incredibly important but often overlooked in the planning stage. The purpose of a floor transition is tnot only to make a neat looking seam between different types of flooring, but also to protect the edges of your flooring from damage due to wear and tear and foot traffic. Threshold strips, stained and matched to your luxury wooden floor make the difference beween a good installation and an excellent installation. We can also produce picture framing to elegantly highlight a fireplace or to be used as a doormat frame for an inset doormat .

Fireplace Frame - this finishes the edges perfectly and beautifully highlights the focal point of an elegant fireplace.

A Doormat Frame is basically exactly the same framing as for a fireplace. One of the most important features in a wood flooring installation but something rarely given enough thought about. It’s the very first and very last thing people see as they cross the threshold of your home, and it is here that impressions are made....scroll down to see.

Bespoke Wooden Floor Transitions

T-Bars or T-Sections are for the flooring transition from engineered wooden floor to engineered wooden floor. They are most often used in doorways (aka threshold strips).

Reducer Strips with a 15 degree chamfer, these strips neatly bridge the gap between differing height floor coverings / floor level transitions e.g. engineered wooden floor to carpet.

Nosings not just for stairs, nosings create a finished edge to your flooring.

Matwell / Doormat Frame these not only frame the VERYbest protection for your floor - a practical addition to enforce feet wiping, but also a simple thing of beauty.

Solid Wood Doormat Frame ~ Fireplace Frame

Solid Oak Doormat Frame / Oak Matwell 70mm wide

Produced with either a fine pencil-rounded profile or a 15 degree sloped chamfer.

You wouldn’t think a humble doormat is something you need to put to much thought into right?  Well, that's where you are wrong. A good-sized and seated doormat, flush and framed within your engineered wood floor, carries as much clout as a stunning fireplace.

The perfect inset doormat to protect your wooden floor should allow for at least 2 steps over, to enforce foot wipers thereby trapping dirt and grit, which acts like sandpaper and can scratch a beautiful wooden floor.

Produced in a Fine pencil-rounded edge profile or a 15 degree Sloped Chamfer, 70mm wide and always to your measurements.

bespoke stair nosings in solid american white ash for engineered wood flooring uk manufacturer

Bespoke Stair Nosings (square edge with no overhang) in Solid White Ash - made to measure and match seamlessly with your flooring

Nosings are not just for stairs, nosings create a finished edge to exposed edges of flooring. When it comes to stairs many people have no idea what a stair nosing actually is - the definition of a stair nosing is the projecting part of a step. They are designed to protect each step but importantly hide the joint between tread and riser. We produce our Stair Nosings from solid wood - 19mm thickness, 70mm wide and to your chosen profile and measurements (lengths). Finishing touches like these, complete an interior, beautifully and seamlessly. Nosings are a small but important detail, often neglected in the planning stage but form an important architectural feature.

Solid Wood Stair Nosing Profiles

Square Edge Stair Nosing in Oiled Appalachian White Oak

Choosing the right Stair Nosing profile will really make your staircase pop and enhance your interior style, be it classic or contemporary. Most people have no idea what a stair nosing actually is, or what their options are. Below we have outlined the three choices that we produce. We make your solid wood stair nosings either untreated to be finished on-site, or stained & finished to match your flooring.

 Pencil Rounded Stair Nosings

Untreated Pencil Rounded Stair Nosing in Solid Oak (top step), the nosings beneath are oiled.

Pencil Rounded Stair Nosings are a traditional style typically used in classic interiors. This type of nosing gets its name due to the curve of the edge profile resembling a pencil laid sideways.

Square Edge Stair Nosings

Solid Oiled American Black Walnut Square Edge Stair Nosing

As the name suggests a simple squared edge design characterised by sharp lines. Popular within contemporary interiors for their unfussy simplicity. Often no overhang is deployed for a very modern detailing - this style is sometimes combined with a shadow-line deliberately added (between nosing and riser) to add visual definition.

Bull Nosed Stair Nosings

Profile detail of a Bull Nosed Stair Nosing in Solid White Ash - Untreated

A Bull Nose shaped stair nosing curves around the front edge of the stair giving a smooth shaped lip / profile. This is a traditional style but works equally well within a modern interior adding a chunky softness.

 Pricing

Produced in the timber of your choice and the profile of your choice. Our stair nosings are supplied either untreated or stained & finished to match your flooring. They are 19mm thick and made from solid wood, with no tongue or groove. The tongue or groove of the floorboard the nosings joins up to needs to be squared-off, which allows the nosings to be fitted flush.

We advise you to give a little thought to nosings when planning your floor so that they are produced alongside your flooring to arrive at the same time. Our Stair Nosings are all made to your specification - to match and measure and thereby factored into our manufacturing schedule .This way you will not need to rebook tradesmen weeks later to fit your nosings, nor pay unnecessarily for extra shipping.
