Engineered Elm Flooring in our Somerset Factory Showroom

Engineered English Elm flooring is exquisite, highly unique and made from our beautiful native hardwood. Our engineered Elm flooring features a wide variation in both colour and grain direction. Molten caramel swirls and creams contrast against rich dark and reddish chocolates. Elm flooring is truly bewitching, bursting with characterful burrs and swirly grain but it is also very tough, will not split and naturally rot resistant. These natural qualities led to its traditional use in the construction of British Piers and water pipes. In 2019 however English Elm is a precious timber that we source sustainably and use wisely to produce an inimitable luxurious engineered wood floor.

We are proud British Manufacturers and our Engineered Elm Flooring is produced from start to finish at our Somerset factory. By creating engineered Elm floorboards we use 70% less of this rare hardwood than Solid Elm Flooring. We also use every inch of Solid Elm possible. This is the reason why our Engineered Elm flooring is supplied in mixed-widths only.

Engineered Elm flooring is available in either narrow mixed-widths or random widths between (90mm – up to 250mm wide) at £80.62 m2 + V.A.T.

An extra-long length Engineered Elm flooring specification, is subject to the availability of timber and + 15% on list prices.

Our Engineered English Elm flooring is also supplied unfinished with a square-shoulder floorboard profile for a flush, seamless floor. Our beautiful native timber deserves special treatment. English Elm truly lends itself to being a flush engineered wood floor. For a superior finish our Elm flooring will need a light sanding once installed and then a hard wax oil for protection and to enrich the stunning grain and warmth of tones.

Engineered Elm flooring is the only luxury wood floor that we supply square-shouldered . We do not finish square-shoulder wood flooring, as for a superior finish it deserves a light sanding on-site. A light localised sanding evens out any minor irregularities in height (a subfloor is rarely 100% flat) then will need finishing with a protective oil / lacquer. In our experience Engineered Elm flooring is best finished with a hard wax oil, which not only protects the floor but enriches the deep caramel / chocolate undertones and beautiful grain.

We both recommend and supply Morrells Induro XL Hardwax Oil (matte or semi-sheen). There would be no point in us supplying prefinished or Oiled Elm flooring due to the need for site sanding. The Engineered English Elm floor above looks very shiny but pictured when cured below in a beautiful semi-sheen finish.
