New York Loft Style - American White Ash Flooring

American White Ash Saatchi flooring reigns at No.1  An exceptionally durable timber - Beautiful nuances in grain and wavy figuring show through and are  enhanced by a  translucent white stain, protected with our commercial grade low- lustre UV Oil top coat.

White wooden flooring gives an open feel and  blank canvas to showcase architectural elements and furnishings. You just cannot go wrong with white. But size matters ... it has to be wide (plank) and it has to be long (lengths) . New York Loft Style at Fonthill Mews Development in Finsbury Park. American White Ash - Saatchi floorboards.

No. 2

Scandinavian Style

Douglas Fir Flooring-  White Lye and Soap Effect

Douglas Fir 'Saatchi' Flooring (White Lye and Soap effect)  comes as a very close number two. Due to the immensity of the trees; Douglas Fir yields extremely wide-plank, lovely long floor boards. Douglas Fir graces the floors of the Saatchi Gallery... Art galleries opt for a blank canvas of white walls and white wooden flooring to showcase their exhibits -

Sassy homeowners are following suit.

Not just for floors... Douglas Fir Saatchi  works beautifully as wood panelling  / bespoke wood wall cladding  - as specified for The Refinery, London E9 below.

No. 3

Natural Tones

Natural Oak Engineered Flooring

The raw, natural beauty of our classic Oak is enhanced by a natural finish. It's a fond farewell to  honey pine yellowing associated with Oak flooring until recently. Grey / beige and greige tones are the new neutrals and found naturally within raw Oak. Our Nature UV Oil finish retains these gorgeous hues and prevents yellowing.

Love this trend...naturally beautiful.

2014 Floods on The Somerset Levels

In 2014 we became synonomous with the floods that devastated the Somerset levels last winter leaving our factory under 8 feet of water and put us out of production for five months. You can read more about the flooding on the Somerset Levels here.

The images below of before and after the flooding of our factory went viral at the time! We thankfully recovered from this terrible situation and the devastation caused is a distant nightmare.

Before the floods - entrance to our factory street view

After the flooding - entrance to our factory (lakeside).

The Basket Works unfortunately relocated their business after seventy years of trading. Every cloud has a silver lining however and from the disaster emerged an amazing community spirit of support and friendships for life were made.... notably Bryony & Gav Sadler founders of the FLAG Flooding on the Levels action group who having also hit rock bottom, collectively gained the strength to harness the power of the media and publicise the misery & devastation that was caused, kick-starting the government and relative agencies to respond with action. #neveragain #dredgetherivers
